To my sons

Life is not fair, get over it.

Always have your brothers back.

Your mother is the most important person in this world.

Love deeply. It’s going to leave you vulnerable to get hurt but it only really hurts the first time.

Read your father’s books. Read biographies of the great ones, it’s a cheat code. Learn world religions and ways of life. Study the cultures abroad.

Meditate meditate meditate! I don’t know why in the western hemisphere we haven’t adopted this as a norm. You must take care of your mind, body and spirit. By meditating this aids all three.

Auto pilot is very useful but strive to remain inspired so you can take the wheel most of the time.

Work hard. I cannot express how important it is to have a ridiculous work ethic. Hard work works. Every single day do your absolute best. You’ll sleep better. Be the hardest worker in the room regardless of your job title.

Man up! When in doubt, refer to rule number one, life is not fair, get over it.

You have broad shoulders, take responsibility for all your actions. Many times you should take responsibility for things that weren’t your doing. You’ll earn respect by doing so.

Never use the poor little me card, it doesn’t build character.

You only have two things in this world; your word and your handshake and they both better be rock solid.

Smile when you’re upset, it makes a world of difference. Attitude is everything in life.

Always be the optimist. Our minds are like a cup. You only have enough room for a limited amount of water, let it be the most purified water available.

Be extremely selective of your circle. Listen to motivational videos/audios. A book or audiobook is never too expensive. If you can draw out one great idea out of a book, it was worth it.

Question everything. What you don’t question is never answered. Ask and though shall receive right? There’s something to that.

Funny story about this, I remember recording my voicemail and not liking any of my recordings. Long story short, by questioning my very own voice which I’ve lived with so many years, I came to the realization that noise and sound are vibrations. I listened to my voice through my bones on my jaw and everyone else heard my voice through the sounds out my mouth. Crazy how the voice everyone else heard was completely different than the one I thought I had all of my life.

Listen to music that is positive. Remember the cup? If you put negativity in, negativity is going to come out. Remain aware.

Be patient, breathe and think before speaking. Anger equals ignorance 90% of the time.

Forgive but never forget. Trust is earned. Now this doesn’t mean to make everyone earn your trust, you do this in silent.

Be irrational, be creative. You gotta be a little crazy in order to survive. Don’t believe in limits, nothing is impossible. Become a no limit man.

In helping others you help yourself. Always look out for those less fortunate than you and don’t advertise it. You’ll sleep better at night.

Mentor others. Others may not been so fortunate to learn what you have. Hold them accountable and because you have pride you’ll walk the talk and they in turn will hold you accountable. In teaching you learn. Serve others and what you get out of it is priceless.

The good ol boys always get the good girls. The bad boys get the bad girls and not in a good way.

Listen so much more than you speak. You may learn something. One usually does.
